- The author was born in England (in spite of the name) in the last half of the last century when Sussex was still like Miss Marple country and you could leave the door unlocked for days. He unknowingly fell in love with Greece at the age of 17 when he visited parts of the mainland on a school trip. Returning to Greece after 32 years and staying on Crete he realised after all that time where he heart was and moved to Crete in 2004. Villa Ralfa, named after the ‘dog in residence’ at the time, was opened as Crete’s first private guesthouse for gay and lesbian travellers later that year, catering for a maximum of 6 guests to provide a friendly home from home atmosphere and with good local knowledge he provides guests with many suggestions for their holiday and travel around Crete in general. He has written several articles including the ‘Dear David’ travelogues of Crete and in his spare time he designs web sites many of which are far better than his own!
